Marcos Cruz

Marcos Cruz’s career has developed in parallel with the history of underground electronic music in Spain. Indeed, he has been of its most influential creators over the last ten years. He is part of the foundational core of House music in the Southern region of Andalusia since his early attempts with turntables and mixing consoles, back in 1993.

During his early sessions as a DJ at clubs in his hometown Seville, he was quite influenced by the old school of House, playing Deep House, Acid House, underground rhythms and Detroit Techno. Throughout his extensive career as a DJ and producer he has attained to combine the best sounds of underground House, Tech and Deep House, being quite influenced by European and American schools, and with an utterly energetic style in cabin that radiates sensuality.

Marcos Cruz remembers the first time he listened to Danny Tenaglia as a milestone in his musical development, at Space Ibiza terrace circa 1998. Along the years, his peculiar sound has drawn the attention of big artists such as Deep Dish, Dubfire, Behrouz, Steve Lawler, Marco Carola, Hernán Cattaneo, Luciano, Radio Slave, Michel Cleis, Tiësto, Víctor Calderone, Chus & Ceballos...

His career took a crucial turn in 2004, with his first worldwide hit: “I love you” (SerialKiller Vinyl). Deep Dish opened their performances with this track, including on Creamfields that year. Shortly afte,r “Love Rotation” was preselected in 2004 for Dubfire's Global Underground 031: Taipei compilation. Ever since, he hasn’t stopped working as DJ, producer and mixer of the greatest international artists.

In 2007 he started his own label, Desertica Records, which has grown to become an icon of the Tech and Deep House sounds made in Spain. At the same time, his career experienced a dazzling global explosion, with tours that have led him to numerous places, from the Winter Music Conference in Miami (WMC) to Eastern Europe, Asia or North Africa. He has kept up that international prestige ever since.

Nowadays, Marcos Cruz is in a exuberant state of maturity, both in personal and musical sides. He still owns an amazing bond with the crowd and his sessions are full of harmony, joy and connection with the audience. His style in booth reflects his strong faith and spiritual commitment. He conceives music as an instrument to inquire into our own identity and convey love.
