Hi Ryan, it’s a pleasure to have you on Altroverso. Who or what inspired you to become a producer?
Good question. There are many different reasons why I wanted to become a producer but there’s one that stands out for me. When I was just DJing I was really struggling to find records that fit my style, so it seemed a natural progression to try to make them myself. Of course there are a lot of good records out there, but finding them can be challenging sometimes. And when you make your own records you don’t have to compromise on quality: they can sound exactly as you want them to and fit your sets perfectly.
You were a resident at Fire, the Ministry Of Sound and then the Sankeys Ibiza, how did you achieve this, and what did it feel to be playing at such legendary venues?
From 2014 to 2015 I was part of the CUFF team so I was on all their tours, including back to back seasons at Sankeys Ibiza. That was a crazy time, and the rush I got from playing regularly at all the venues was incredible, but for me the biggest kick was from Sankeys. That place is amazing and the vibe was always insane.
In that time you continued to produce your music, until you created the track Trust Me, that definitely launched you as a producer. Tell us how it went.
Yes ‘Trust Me’ was definitely a major milestone in my career. It was fantastic to have Danny Howard and Radio 1 champion the record: the get an endorsement like that was such a great feeling and it’s definitely spurred me on!
Are you thinking about new releases, new project for the 2017?
Yes I have a big release coming on Spinnin Records called ‘Special’ that features the voice of Luther Soul. I’ve worked with Luther before, his voice is so powerful and distinctive – can’t wait to see what people think of this one.
You are now an important member of the UK house movement, what are for you the changes you detected in the scene, if there are, and how do you think it will evolve?
I think the scene will carry on slowly evolving: it will be small changes you will notice this year as it’s currently in a period of transition. The scene is on great shape, with more attention on it that ever before. I really think the UK leads the way in house music and I’m proud to be part of it.

How is important for an artist to reach a personal style and identity?
If you want to stand out from the rest then it’s very important, but it’s also ok to be inspired by other artists. Musicians have been taking inspiration from each other forever: it’s what shapes you as a person and an artist as well. I think you just need to do something a little different, add your own personality to make it stand out. That’s what all the successful artists manage to do, and it’s a manta I try to live by .
