Camilo Franco

Camilo Franco is a DJ whose sound is every bit as colourful as his heritage. Born in Colombia, he was raised in Benidorm in Spain and now divides his time between Barcelona and Ibiza. An individual whose sound is very much indebted to his background, Franco is renowned for his tireless energy behind the decks as well as a peerless ability to call on the right tune at exactly the right time.

Previously a resident at Space Ibiza, Franco first came to prominence as a resident at the club's infamous Ibiza Calling party. The spearhead of the brand's global tours, his party-starting sound has seen him traverse the globe, touching down in some of the world's foremost nightspots as he goes. From Dubai to Morocco to Indonesia, Franco's DJ nous continues to draw in and enthral clubbers from virtually every far-flung corner of the world. As influenced by rap and acid house as much as he is techno, tribal, deep house and everything in between, listeners can always expect a journey fraught with emotion when Franco hits the decks.

While Camilo Franco is a DJ who boasts an incredibly loyal global following, it's on the White Isle where he's most rightly revered. Although he's now departed the sadly-no-more Space, he's now a resident at Heart, arguably the island's most impressive newcomer of recent years. A high-tech club that wonderfully plays into the hands of Franco's expansive skillset, it's become an apt foil for his high-energy sound. Heart and Space aside, Franco's sound has brought him to practically all of the island's best clubs, with DC10, Pacha, Amnesia and Privilege among those who've also hosted the multifaceted Colombian. From Carl Cox to Louie Vega to Mark Knight and Erick Morillo, he has also thrown it down alongside some of the industry's most renowned names. Franco also maintains close ties to Defected, for whom he'll be DJing with as part of the Glitterbox party this summer.

Outside of Ibiza, Franco also holds residencies in Barcelona at CDLC Club, as well as a monthly residency at BoHo Experience at La Suite in Marbella. "Being a resident DJ is not something I take for granted", says Franco. "Playing in the same club regularly is an experience that helps you grow as a DJ, and is certainly something that's been focal to my own personal development".

Franco's credentials as a producer are no less impeccable. From Mark Knight's Toolroom to legendary NYC imprint Nervous to scene-defining British label Defected, he has graced some of the biggest in the game. Throw in the fact that he has collaborated with everyone from Chus & Ceballos to Bob Sinclar to Cece Rogers and it's clear that Franco is no slouch in the production department. Franco's approach to music has endeared him to many over the years-but don't just take our word for it. Indeed, Franco continues to gather individual accolades at an impressively consistent rate, with Vicious Magazine and DJ Mag among those who've nominated him for awards.

2018 looks set to prove an especially fruitful year for Franco. Alonside his aforementioned Heart residency, he'll also be remixing Pete Heller's classic anthem, 'Big Love' forDefected. The original is a massive track in its own right, so it's saying something that Franco's aptly brilliant re-interpretation has received a firm thumbs-up from Defected, who will be releasing the track soon as part of a special remix package. Sure to catapult Franco to a whole new audience still, it's continuing proof of a musician who refuses to stand still.
